Arts Summer

Free poetry in the streets of Forest and Saint-Gilles

Every year, from June to August (almost three months!), Park Poétik scatters free poetry in the streets of Forest and Saint-Gilles, and beyond. We stir emotions and pique the curiosity of local residents and passers-by.

Every moment of wonder is the potential start of a dialogue, and every day is even more surprising than the last. Artists take to the squares, parks and streets with a range of artistic interventions, from fleeting surprises to in-depth residencies and public events.

On the programme:

  • Surprises: a mobile, unannounced pop-up programme of street theatre, circus, dance, clowning, puppetry, music, enchanting installations...
  • Street residencies: artists work in depth from a specific location and give a voice to residents and passers-by.
  • Fiestas: festive parades through the city or cosy afternoons around Radio Poétik, live and interactive broadcasts from a blue caravan. On the programme: Jam Poétik, participatory workshops, performances, concerts and much more.
  • Satellite projects: crossover interventions that cannot be neatly categorised and belong everywhere: Quartier Ludiek (a playful playground for children), Transmigration (a choreographic research project by Precy Numbi with the “Bastard·e·s van Bruxelles”), Park Poétik Kinshasa (street festival in Kinshasa), and many others.

During the participatory arts summer, the mobile mascots Cuistax-à-gogo and Taxi Poétik will inform the public about what is to come. These participatory tools can be borrowed by individuals and organisations via the Participotek .
