Story Poétik
After 5 years of Park Poétik, the Poétikizen.ne.s took the time to reflect on their story. More than that, they wrote it down! The result is a bilingual, multi-voiced and inclusive brochure, handbook, toolkit... that puts the participatory city festival into words and images. It contains inspiration and tips for professionals and fans, and it opens the door to a more inclusive society where art and imagination make the world a more beautiful place.
Why story poétik ?
Story Poétik is the story of Park Poétik that contains tips and inspiration for professionals and fans. It helps facilitate the transition to a sensitive city where art in public spaces provides imagination and connection. It thus opens a door to an inclusive society. Park Poétik is a story of many for many: sharing is at the heart of the organisation. Above all, Story Poétik is also an invitation to help think about how to make festivals more inclusive, about how to (re)distribute power? Who takes on which role? What do you suggest?
Who wrote story poétik?
Park Poétik is a participatory urban festival. The voice of the Poétikizen.ne.s, both socio-cultural organisations and residents and artists who dream along and realise Park Poétik, is therefore also at the heart of Story Poétik. This booklet is the result of meeting, dialogue and reflection. Story Poétik is multilingual and the texts meet the B1/B2 reading level. The design takes into account persons who are highly sensitive. Besides a lot of factual information, it also contains quotes from people who talk about their experience with Park Poétik. The graphic reporting or storytelling is by Judith Dufaux. She has been intensely involved in the participatory process for several years. Noémie Touly created the comic strips. She was introduced to Park Poétik as an intern and, thanks to her thesis, was at the origin of the idea of a graphic novel. Myriam Dousse of the collective Cuistax took care of the design.
How to get started with story poétik?
Story Poétik not only tells you about Park Poétik - its genesis in 2020 from the Arts Festival SuperVliegSuperMouche, its manifesto that includes Park Poétik's core values and objectives, how and why Park Poétik creates encounters, how it does so from the power of multi-voicedness to be inclusive - but also shows in detail how to engage participatively in public space: the atomic model as an inspiring model for city makers, the different steps needed to make a jury inclusive with an eye on the principles of Deep Democracy, and the elements needed to form an incubator. Story Poétik also tells you about the satelite project in Kinshasa - a story about an enthusiastic fan implementing the Park Poétik project elsewhere - and also compiles some questions for the future. Last but not least, Story Poétik includes a toolbox, a booklet within a booklet, with ready-to-use sheets and methodologies you can immediately get started in your organisation or with your project!
