For all ages: come and join in!

Imagine a city square, see it as the day unfolds: light draws its lines, people flow across. Shopping bags, cigarettes, fat bikes. Each on their way to something of their own. Then, as if on cue, the vertical becomes horizontal: those present lie down on the square. First there are five, then nine. Then more; eventually, dozens of people are lying together on the square.

Who are these people? Is that a homeless person? An activist? Someone just taking a break? And now think from the perspective of the ones lying down. From the ground up, they see the sky and clouds, hear the shuffle of a foot, a soft sigh from another body nearby, the rustle of a jacket.

A Mass on the Move (@a.mass.on.the.move) is a collective dance performance across the city, where we slow down, connect and find calm.

Join us at Place Bethléem on 6, 13, 27 August, and 3 September between 4 pm and 7 pm and join in. No experience needed – everyone is welcome.

★ More about the artist: A Mass on the Move was launched in 2025 by multidisciplinary artist Johannes Bellinkx and choreographer and dancer Benjamin Vandewalle. Through this project, they explore how groups of people move through space and how changes in scale influence our experience.
