14:00 – 17:00 Textile workshop with Cycl.one

On the banks of the Marais WIELS, L’Écaillère awakens: a giant fish, a gentle guardian of the water, woven from stories, willow branches, metal and colourful fabric.

Layer by layer, this artwork takes shape. Residents, children, local organisations and passers-by are working together to create a living skin from recycled materials and plants harvested from the Marais. Every knot, every plait and every piece of fabric makes the fish a little stronger.

Next to the installation, you’ll find a place to settle down, listen, play or simply be still for a moment. Settle down on the colourful blanket made especially for Parade Poétik by classes from Arc-en-Ciel and La Preuve par 9. Come and help build the fish’s skin. Leave a scale behind. Listen to the Marais. Perhaps it will whisper a story back to you.

More about the theatre company: CYCL.ONE (@collectif_cycl.one), a collective of creative makers and artists from Brussels, explores public space as a giant playground. With expertise in textiles and traditional techniques, they create monumental, colourful and quirky works.

15:00 – 16:00 Radio Mangoboom

Radio Mangoboom is a fold-out ‘chat tree’ on wheels that transforms public spaces into places for meeting, sharing stories and engaging in dialogue. Young and old engage in conversation about themes from the past and present, whilst their voices are broadcast live across Brussels. The brand-new radio unit on wheels is built from scratch the week before, using plastic baskets, by artist Precy Numbi together with young people from Anderlecht.

More about the artist: Using technological waste, striking performances and costumes made from discarded materials, visual artist, sculptor and performer creates an ecological and poetic world in which recycling and resistance go hand in hand. creates an ecological and poetic world in which recycling and resistance go hand in hand.
